Last couple of months I have been busy shooting for clients and the creative side to photography had taken a back seat. Don’t get me wrong, shooting jobs is fun but not always as creative as you want it to be. Photographers/Artist often hit the creative block and get trapped by their own thinking. It was a few weeks ago I came across a few old copies of the Vogue magazine and was in awe with the photographs by Patrick Demarchelier. I instantly knew I had to shoot some creative black and white photographs and have the really harsh/contrast light on the model. Spent a few days working on a mood board and was really excited about shooting in the classic style of Patrick and putting my own spin to it.
It had been a while since I created something for myself, I contacted my friend and model Brogan Wilkinson who was equally keen on shooting and contributed a few more ideas to the mood board. Brogan is an international model/actor and with a background in dance knows her flow posing. I have been collaborating with Brogan on her Fashion Blog Eliza and Leigh. Working with her is always fun and get great shots!
Camera Gear and lighting details at the end of the blog:
Profoto 20-30 Degree Telezoom
Lighting kit hired from Smith Studios NZ
Tethered to Macbook Pro 13″ Retina via Adobe Lightroom CC.
I always shoot tethered when working with a team. Great to see the results on a bigger screen and the Make up Artist and Stylist have an idea on what shots we are getting.
